Congressman Steve Womack visits with Chamber/Partnership leaders U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-District 3, stressed the importance of Republicans and Democrats working together in Congress. The Congressman stopped by The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce to visit with the Chamber and Hot Springs Metro Partnership Boards of Directors on Thursday before speaking at a conference held in Hot Springs. Congressman Womack expressed frustration with the lack of compromise in national leaders to accomplish work for the greater good of the country. The Congressman stated that he is currently involved with a large group of bipartisan leaders that are coming together to look at how to address issues of mutual interest. He noted that it was a step in the right direction, and he looks forward to continuing their endeavors. The Congressman also said Arkansas is extremely fortunate to have the federal delegation that it does. Those who represent Arkansas in Washington, D.C. are well-respected leaders, he said, adding that they are poised to be difference makers for the State of Arkansas and the country as a whole. One bipartisan issue Congressman Womack stressed is the importance of maintaining and improving infrastructure in Arkansas and throughout the United States. Chamber Board Chairman Don Gooch and others shared the community’s concern with the Congressman over the closure of the Arkansas Career Training Institute, and the possible public safety and economic threat to the downtown area and the national park, if not handled correctly. Congressman Womack also touched on other issues facing the country including Medicare, the federal budget, immigration and impeachment.
