Scott Burton is a seventh-generation Hot Springs native and is extremely passionate about the area. Burton was named the 2018 Rising Start of the Year at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet in January. Burton said the honor means a great deal to him. “It means that I was recognized for helping bring businesses together in order to be more successful,” he said. “A rising tide lifts all boats, and the more you help people get where they want to go, the more they’ll help you get where you want to be.” With a great love for Hot Springs, Burton’s involvement in the community is extensive. He works with Mid-America Museum, Oaklawn Rotary Club, Cooper-Anthony Mercy Child Advocacy Center, Leadership Hot Springs, Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army, Kiwanis Club Hot Springs, Friends of Hot Springs National Park, Lakeside High School, and First Baptist Church, and possesses leadership roles in many. Burton is a single father of two teen-age girls. He is a financial and portfolio advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He also recently earned the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst certification. “My family has called Hot Springs home for generations. We live in a unique place that people are just now starting to appreciate,” he said. “I’m excited about what is going on here and want to help people be successful so they’ll have a great experience in Hot Springs like my family has.”
