10 Reasons to Join the Chamber

Top 10 Reasons to Join the Chamber

When a business joins the Chamber of Commerce the benefits are endless. However there are a few that are extremely valuable. Below is the top 10 reasons a business should be a member of the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.

1. Endless Networking Opportunities

When a business joins the Chamber of Commerce, it exposes itself to endless ways to network with others in the area. The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce offers Leads Groups, which are non-compete networking groups designed to build lasting personal relationships between businesses. The Chamber also hosts Business After Hours throughout the year, as well as multiple events such as the popular Flavor of the Park.

2. A Voice in Local and State Government

The Chamber of Commerce has a goal to advocate for an environment that promotes the success of its members and the local economy. With the annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In and One Voice, the Chamber becomes a voice to better the business atmosphere. Through One Voice Chamber members identify key political issues facing business and the community. They prioritize them for action from legislators, representatives and various stakeholders at the local, state and federal level.

Through the Washington, D.C. Fly-In Chamber members are invited to travel to the nation’s capital to meet with elected officials, discuss issues impacting the local business community and learn about upcoming legislative endeavors.

3. Targeted Marketing Opportunities

The Chamber offers many ways to market a business to just the right people. Through its Flavor of the Park event, local restaurants are able to market to people who are looking to try new restaurants. The Business & Career Expo is also a great way to market to those who are in a business frame of mind.

Businesses also have the opportunity to purchase email marketing and advertise directly to other Chamber members.

4. Have a Pulse on Business Trends

The Chamber keeps an eye on business trends and passes those along to its members. Also with business to business networking, Chamber members form relationships with other members. Along with the relationships come a shared knowledge between friends and business partners. For example, a Chamber member meets another business professional through its Leads Group who comes to be a supplier for that member. In conversation just before Leads begins the supplier states how other customers are starting to use a different product they have. The member researches that product and learns it is actually better for their business too.

5. Proof of Credibility and Integrity

Customers want to shop and spend their dollars in businesses they know they can trust. Chamber members display a decal in their doors letting customers know they are members.  Being a member of the Chamber shows customers and other business owners that the business cares about the community and the business climate of its town.

6. Member-to-Member Benefits

Chamber members love other Chamber members. Not only do they get to know them better through the many marketing opportunities, but they also appreciate that business’ support for the local business and economic climate. Because of this love many businesses offer member-to-member benefits as a way to say “thank you” and encourage the health of the Chamber.

7. Acquire Customer Referrals

When people are looking for a specific business they generally start with the Chamber. Potential customers call the Chamber on a daily basis looking for advice on a specific problem they are facing. Chamber staff then refer those customers to a Chamber member who can assist them in solving their problem. The Chamber’s website also is a place where potential customer come to see what businesses can help them. The Business Directory on the website is a great way to acquire customer referrals.

8. Increase Visibility in the Community

In addition to being placed in the Business Directory on the Chamber’s website, Chamber members also gain visibility in the community in a variety of other ways. By participating in one of the Chamber’s special events, business are exposed to all the people attending the event.

9. Promotion and Publicity

The Chamber promotes businesses through its Facebook page and other social media. Member benefits also include publishing press releases on its website. The Chamber also publishes ribbon cuttings for new or expanding businesses in the newspaper, on social media and in its weekly newsletter.

10. A Way to Give Back

The Chamber of Commerce is non-profit business advocacy organizations. Membership dues support the Chamber’s work to advocate and provide the best business and economic atmosphere for the community. The Chamber works alongside the Hot Springs Metro Partnership, a public/private economic development agency dedicated to Garland County, to impact economic and community growth within the greater Hot Springs area.
